WHY YOU SHOULD BE THERE
The Trust’s annual Florida ASR Conferences provide an
opportunity for all interested parties to hear about the latest progress and
development in ASR from scientific, engineering, management and regulatory
perspectives. The future of ASR technology applications in Florida has huge
significance for resource management, development planning, and ecological
restoration.
The one-day, 2005, Florida program (ASR V) will bring
together the state’s engineers, scientists, planners, water-resource managers,
attorneys, concerned citizens, etc. to share up-to-date information regarding
the challenges, feasibility, potential, regulatory concerns and the economic
& environmental benefits of aquifer management strategies involving
artificial recharge/ aquifer storage.
BACKGROUND
The
Trust’s is a non-profit organization. Its educational mission has a focus on
resource sustainability and source protection.
Since 1999, the American Ground Water Trust has convened ten conference
programs that have featured aquifer storage:
1999, Phoenix, AZ (Water Banking,
Conjunctive Use and Artificial recharge)
2000, Ontario, CA (Innovations in
Artificial Recharge) with Assn. of Groundwater Agencies
2001, 2002, 2003 Orlando, FL
(Aquifer Storage Recovery I, II and III)
2001, Ontario, CA (Conjunctive Use:
Experiences & Frontiers) with Assn. of Groundwater Agencies
2001, Chicago, IL (Alluvial
Aquifers: Options for Development)
2003, Denver, CO (Water Management
Strategies)
2004, Tampa, FL (Aquifer Storage
Recovery IV) with FL Geol. Survey & Hydrogeology Consortium
2004, Denver, CO (Aquifer Recharge:
Focus on Denver Basin Aquifers)
2005 Florida ASR Conference
FIELD TRIP –
PEACE RIVER
Pre-Conference
Field-trip opportunity: Wednesday October 19th 2:00pm to 4:30pm
(Are you
driving to Tampa from south Florida?
Why not join the field trip?)
The ASR
System at the Peace River Facility is the largest ASR program in the
eastern United States, consisting of 22 wells completed into 3 distinct storage
intervals. Join the field trip, visit the ASR well fields
& monitoring sites and speak to the Water Authority experts and
their consultants about the design, permitting, and
latest operational testing results for the ASR program.
